The CSSC's 5th biannual leadership retreat this Winter was a success! From January 16th to the 18th, twenty five students and alumni gathered at our beautiful retreat space amongst the hillsides of Arroyo Grande representing thirteen campuses to build community amongst our statewide leaders, exchange ideas, and collaborate on programs and campaigns that address the problems we face in the 21st century. The weekend resulted in new friendships, new campaigns, great ideas, and inspiration to progress forward. From endorsing campaigns to team building games and from creating a new Operating team to cooking meals together, ultimately the weekend turned out to be very successful.

Read More...OCT 12, UC DAVIS - The Community Building potluck in Davis on October 12 was a warm event despite the torrential rains. Twelve students, CSSC alumni, and staff gathered at the Cal Aggie Christian Association House (a multi-faith student living community) to discuss topics like improving student/staff ties on campus and in our work, the importance and viability of internships in the university, and stories about some of the fanaticism people we've meet with our work.

OCT. 15, SAN RAFAEL, CA - On October 15th, CSSC partnered with AASHE and Second Nature to produce a one-day pre-conference intensive on sustainability in higher education in conjunction with Bioneers, the largest environmental and social justice conference in the US. Approximately 75 students, educators, community members, and campus staff were present, sharing in powerful discussions about how to raise the bar on sustainability at our campuses, and really prepare our campuses and society for the coming climate changes we will surely see in the next few decades.
October 15, Los Angeles, CA - The CSSC Southern California networking potluck was a success! 25 students and recent alumni representing 6 universities showed up to share delicious food and network with fellow sustainability leaders at their campuses. Over a candle lit dinner students and recent alumni shared what they are working on and their strategy for making a difference in the world.
