OCT 12, UC DAVIS - The Community Building potluck in Davis on October 12 was a warm event despite the torrential rains. Twelve students, CSSC alumni, and staff gathered at the Cal Aggie Christian Association House (a multi-faith student living community) to discuss topics like improving student/staff ties on campus and in our work, the importance and viability of internships in the university, and stories about some of the fanaticism people we’ve meet with our work.
Hai Vo, a CSSC alumni and one of this year’s recipients of the Brower Youth Awards, lead us through a wonderful activity about visioning and also went over how he formed and accomplished his goals. The mix of students was one of the best things about the potluck; people are new to CSSC and seasoned veterans came to the table with a shared perspective of sustainability. For the new CSSC-ers, the potluck offered a wonderful transition into campus and statewide leadership and organization.
Despite the weather, we all found comfort in community and shared experience.
