Power Vote 2012

Young people are leading the way to solve the climate crisis, and bring in a clean energy economy by leading on our campuses and in our communities.

But big polluters like the billionaire Koch Brothers are spending over $1 billion dollars to try to derail our progress and hijack this election and our democracy.

While the Big Polluters may have lots of money, we have people power.

The youth vote is one of the most powerful voting blocs in the country, and when we’re organized and use our power, we will make a difference.

Last fall, when the youth vote demanded that President Obama reject the dangerous Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, he was forced to listen.

This Fall, we must use the election to:

  • turn out young people to build momentum for local clean energy solutions, and demand candidates and elected officials follow our lead;
  • Unite our people power to pushback on the role of dirty money, and demand candidates stand with us, not the Big Polluters
  • Demand candidates address the climate crisis, the most pressing environmental issue of our generation, and start talking about clean energy solutions, instead of promoting dirty coal, gas, oil and nuclear

This election will be defined by what the youth vote decides to do. We need to lead from the grassroots and demand candidates and elected officials follow our lead, so let’s get started!

This year, Power Vote isn’t just about registering people to vote, and it’s not just about a single proposition. It’s about getting face-to-face with your local representatives and candidates for office, and demanding they take a stand on issues key to young people in our state.
