Convergences are run by students like you and passionate community members. This means that you create the content. The best way to do this is to host a workshop!
Are you bursting with the need to teach others about your passion? Have you just solved the energy crisis in a sustainable way? Maybe you organized students on your campus to run a divestment campaign?
I would like to host a composting workshop where I will focus on how someone with not much space (i.e. apartment building) can compost their food scraps with a little bit of innovation. I will demonstrate how to start an indoor vermicompost bin and explain what needs to be done to keep the worms happy and productive. Not only can you stop your food waste from going to a landfill, you can also turn it into some of nature’s best fertilizer. Vermicomposting takes very little investment for such a wonderful end product that can be used to help grow more food. With their own indoor worm bin, hopefully people will inspire others to do the same.
Co-hosting the workshop with me will be Bri Mulvey, the Compost Display Area Co-coordinator at Chico State. Last semester I was an intern at the Compost Display Area.
Hey Colin,
I’m not the best person to answer whether or not that’s the kind of workshop we are looking for at this convergence, but what you should do is apply to run that workshop (maybe mention how it can tie into the theme… maybe how compost can be an investment to the land or your future meal?) and wait to hear back from the selection team!
Either way Composting is amazing and I for one would love to check out your workshop! So good Luck!!
