“Power Shift 2009 was the first time I felt the power of the climate movement. There were 10,000 young people working in their communities all across the country to stop the fossil fuel industry at all its points of production from extraction to combustion. Returning again after a tough couple of years filled with major political failures and incredible community victories, Power Shift 2011 was a place to build momentum and strategy that could be sustained and develop into a force for systemic change. As we head into Power Shift 2013 with fossil fuel divestment and reinvestment campaigns on more than 300 campuses and a deeper understanding of justice as a goal that cannot be achieved without addressing the other systems like racism and classism which prop up the corporations that are currently destroying people’s homes and livelihoods and whose action jeopardize all future generations, I have hope. I look forward to meeting you at Power Shift 2013; I believe that we will win.”

“I went to Power Shift 2011, as a high school student. We fund-raised and organized to take 12 high school environmental activists to DC! It was incredible to see the climate justice movement come together in one place and to lobby our leaders.”

“Power Shift 2011 was the most inspiring moment of my life. Good vibes abounded as I forged new relationships that have allowed me to stay involved in the green movement. It was educational and empowering, epic. This year we have more potential than ever to counter big pollution, and we need as many youth leaders as possible to attend PS13 to build a network for success.”
